Jonny plays a custom made Ad Lib 9-string guitar tuned in perfect fourths. The extended register, spanning more than five octaves, helps to enhance the illusion of sounding like more than one player. Starting out on classical guitar Jonny uses a modified classical guitar technique that enables him to play melody, chords and bass lines simultaneously in a way that sounds more like a piano than a guitar. Some of the musicians with whom Jonny has played include:
Mark Murphy, Ron McClure, George Garzone, Jeff Hirshfield, Tim Hagans, Nancy
Marano, Jack Wilkins, Carla White, and Debra Brown. Of the clubs Jonny has performed can be mentioned: Birdland,
